On behalf of my 5yr old and 2yr old, I would like to nominate my wonderful wife and the mother of our 2 children, Crystal.

On top of being a mother of 2, Crystal works 40+ hours a week and for the past several months she has been training to run the mini marathon in Indianapolis. Our girls are active in dance, soccer, swim and tee ball and she does not miss any of their activities.

Crystal is always on the go and would rather do something for her family then herself. Crystal very seldom has time just for herself to relax and is so deserving of this relaxing, revitalizing and rejuvenating week. Thanks for your time.

My mother, Velda, should win the contest because she is a hard worker and never misses a beat.

Her aging parents live with her and she does everything for them from cooking all their meals, cutting and fixing their hair and so on. My grandpa has Alzheimer’s and my grandma can hardly walk. Not only does she care for them, but she takes care of my three little boys. Since I am a single mother she helps get them on and off the bus and with their homework. Feeds them, baths them and takes them to doctor’s appointments. My mom is always on the go. From doctor to doctor between herself, my grandparents and my children. She rarely has anytime to herself to relax.

My mom has always been a tough lady, but I have noticed a change in her since taking on this huge responsibility. She deserves some pampering and time to herself.

Thank you for your consideration!

I 110% believe my mom deserves to win the Total Mom Rejuvenation contest for many reasons. My mom was a young mom that had two children by the age of 23. She gave up her younger years and started a family. Since I can remember, my mom has worked Full-time and overtime for the past 25 years. As a child, anything I needed help with she was there to help me. She would work a 8-12 hour day, to come home get dinner ready, help me with my homework take us to practices, softball games, tennis matches whatever. She was always on the run.

I don’t ever remember her ever taking time out for herself. It was always about us kids, making sure she gave us every opportunity she could. If I needed a new tennis racket or wanted to go to tennis camp and we couldn’t afford it, she would pick up extra days at work or work overtime to make it happen. I just remember her always doing whatever she could to make my childhood a good one.

My mom works as a letter carrier for the USPS. She is out in the elements on a daily basis. When a lot of other professions take the day off because of the “snowpocalypse” she is out there making sure the mail gets to your door. Whether its raining cats and dogs, is 95 degrees and humid or snowy/icy outside she is out in the elements making sure everyone gets their favorite magazine or even for some that social security check. I remember her coming home after a long day when it was zero degrees and not even complaining about it. She would come home and make sure everyone else was OK before herself. I truly believe she deserves this rejuvenation. She has worked hard all 51 years of her life and I believe she would be a very grateful recipient of the rejuvenation.

I wish to tell you about my daughter, Anne C. She is caring, helpful and has a heart of gold.

In her life, she has had many ups and downs. Her four plus ‘ups’ are her three boys, her daughter, and her husband. In addition to the straight A’s the boys have, they are involved in many traveling sports, baseball, basketball, swimming, etc. With all of this, she has gone back to college to become a registered nurse and is making good grades.

She has been the rock of her house for the last few years since her husband was called up by the military for tours in Afganistan and Iraq. He has also been called out of the state seeking work in his other career as an electrical contractor as there are few jobs available in Indiana. This has gone on for many, many months.

She was the one who finished the house they started building during the first military tour. This was her down time when he was gone.

Now things are looking up. He has found a job in southern Indiana which will require a household move in the future, as well as completing her RN schooling.

Anne is passionate at what she does, and will help anyone at any time, and never says no to anyone in need!

She has worked for the same childcare company for almost 20 years. She took this field so she could always be around her daughters. She is extremely devoted to her job, never says no, will do anything and everything that is needed. I work with her just one day a week and her dedication amazes me. On her one week day she is off she keeps her grandson. You could say to help his parents financially, but that would be an excuse. Heidi has been through her share of trials and tribulations through the years, surgeries, illnesses, including losing her first grandchild at birth. But she picks up her boot straps, pulls her family’s boot straps up and keeps going.

She works so hard, that having a day to be pampered would be something she never dreamed of having time to do!

She would be appreciative for many years to come for this great opportunity.

My daughter, Rachel, has been a mom since September 6, 2010. She and Nick were really ready to be parents. Even though this doesn’t seem like a long time, she has been through some difficulties.

She developed severe pre-eclampsia and suddenly was hospitalized for 4 days. This hospitalization was like a roller coaster ride as she would get better to the point of discharge and then relapse. On the fourth day, they had to perform a C-section to relieve her symptoms. She was just starting her 32nd week, so her son had to be in the N.I.C.U. for eight weeks. He has had to see a few specialists, but is doing fine now.

She works on a busy unit as a nurse, and is devoted to her patients as well as their family members. Even with this high-stress job, she has been working on an advanced degree and will graduate in May.

She has been juggling too many roles for such a young Mom. She is so devoted to her little boy; it is touching to see them together. Winning the Total Mom Rejuvenation Contest would be such a great reward for surviving all of the challenges she has faced this year!

I feel that my Mom has long deserved to be pampered and taken care of, this has been for years coming. I am 33 years old. I was born premature with a heart problem, I was born at 6 months and was a preemie. My parents (both of them) were there with me and was by my side, night and every day for a very long time until, I was released from the hospital.

I had lots of restrictions growing up as a kid. I couldn’t do as most other kids. My Mom was always there for me, no matter what. I went in for open heart surgery at Riley Hospital when I was 8 years old. She was there the whole time, night and day, good and bad. She washed my hair for me, got me anything I needed. I was in the hospital close to a week, came home and she was there through the recuperating process.

I am 33 now and still have a very close relationship with both of my parents, My Mom is my inspiration and if I end up being just as great and caring as her, I will have made a very great accomplishment in my life. As she grows older, I will be there throught thick and then. I won’t ever leave her side because she never left mine.

This wicked winter weather seems to be never-ending! Given the ongoing below-freezing temperatures and the snow piling up, people are spending more and more time in the drying heat of their homes. As a result, we’re hearing quite a few complaints about dry, itchy, crusty skin. While an early spring would bring an end to the misery on many fronts, here is a quick review of how you can get dry winter skin under control fast.

Humidify your home. Adding a portable humidifier to your bedroom will start correcting the problem at its root and will give your skin a break while you sleep.

Eliminate products containing fragrance for the time being. This includes perfumes, body products such as lotions that are scented with any fragrance other than essential oil, and fabric softener. Most of the time, you can begin using your favorite products after the warmer weather returns, but synthetic perfumes are going to be nothing more than an additional irritant to overly-dry skin.

It’s certainly not appealing on a ten degree morning, but keeping your shower short and cool will also help enormously. Hot showers promote further moisture loss from the outer layers of your skin. If you just can’t give up this part of our routine, then apply a fragrance-free body lotion immediately after showering while your skin is still damp, and cover it up right away to trap moisture next to your skin.

Ease up on the alcohol; increase H2O. Exchange that second glass of wine for water – and hydrate from within.

Don’t scratch. Pick up a tube of 1% hydrocortisone at the drug store and slather it on before bedtime. This over-the-counter strength is not harmful, but avoid long-term usage (more than 10 days). Hydrocortisone will ease the itchy feeling, and most brands are available in an emollient base that will also help moisturize.

Great Cold Weather Skincare:

Here are our ‘staff picks’ for heavy-duty hydration through the next month:

NIA Intensive Recovery Cream - This is a best-seller that not only inhibits moisture loss, but also delivers pro-Niacin directly to the skin. Niacin is a strengthener – and the result is firmer, stronger, supple skin. Great for face, neck, chest and hands; and we’ve heard it puts LaMer in the corner when it comes to hydration. 110.00

Jan Marini C-Esta Cream – Time and time again, guests return to this tried and true favorite during the winter months. The heavier base is great for all but oily skin types, and makeup glides on over the top of this cream making it as ideal for day as it is for night use. We’ve not found a product yet that beats it for firming. 90.00

Aveda’s Tourmaline Hydrating Cream – This product gets kudos for being a great bargain as well as a super treatment cream. Tourmaline is ideal for giving skin ‘radiance’ – or that glowy look that we crave in the dead of winter. As a cream-based product, this one also hydrates extremely well – great bang for your buck. 35.00
