She has worked for the same childcare company for almost 20 years. She took this field so she could always be around her daughters. She is extremely devoted to her job, never says no, will do anything and everything that is needed. I work with her just one day a week and her dedication amazes me. On her one week day she is off she keeps her grandson. You could say to help his parents financially, but that would be an excuse. Heidi has been through her share of trials and tribulations through the years, surgeries, illnesses, including losing her first grandchild at birth. But she picks up her boot straps, pulls her family’s boot straps up and keeps going.

She works so hard, that having a day to be pampered would be something she never dreamed of having time to do!

She would be appreciative for many years to come for this great opportunity.

My favorite combination of products to use during treatment is Jan Marini Clean Zyme / Skin Zyme enzyme therapy combined with the Jan Marini Factor A mask. Both of these clinical products deliver results- and really change a relaxing Ayurvedic Facial into a super-charged Treatment Facial. This has been my ‘go-to’ combo when wanting to provide my guests with an immediate, dramatic glow. The enzyme therapy products digest dead skin cells- without irritating the skin. I love to use this product combination with steam before using a gentle granule exfoliant, and before performing extractions. It immediately increases skin clarity and improves the texture of the skin.

The Factor A mask contains Azelaic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Kojic Acid, and the highest percentage of retinol available which improves acne and helps improve photo damaged skin. Some people experience mild tingling with this product, but for most people the warmth decreases after a few minutes. Guests see improvement in acne and fine lines immediately.

The combination of these products leaves the skin looking luminous and healthy, while calming down inflammation from breakouts. By finishing with a vitamin C product, the skin feels plumped and hydrated for days.

Best of all, the results can be maintained by using these products at home in between facials. These products are a staple in my own home regimen, especially when I feel a breakout coming. For my oilier skin type, I can use the products several times in a week to help control a breakout or when I want my skin to look its best. I will even use the Factor A mask to spot treat a blemish. Email me directly for more product combo ‘tricks’ to deliver glowing skin for the holiday party season!

A patient came to me several months ago with frustrating results from past Laser Hair Removal. She had been to several doctors’ offices and medical spas to treat her bikini and underarms. After multiple series of treatments and multiple types of machines, her results had not been what she was expecting from the treatments.

We discussed the details of her past treatments including spacing of treatments, side affects during and after treatments, personal grooming history, etc. After reviewing her past experiences and examining her skin and hair type, it turns out that she is the best candidate for laser hair removal. She has light skin and does not allow herself to tan, her hair is very dark and coarse, and she does not tweeze or wax. This makes her past experiences even more unusual.

We began by changing her usually 6 week treatment intervals to 4 wks to see if her growth cycle is more frequent than is typical. In the past, the treatment intensity was so high that she was often left with overheated areas and burns. We started with a light- based technology called BBL® for hair removal, and used a double pass with deeper and more superficial settings and moderate intensity.

The second treatment, which took place at 4 weeks, showed hair was just beginning to return. In the past hair did not shed at all, so this was a great initial improvement. We then tried a 1064 laser to compare with her initial results, but they were not as impressive as they had been with BBL®. We continued with this same protocol for the first 4 treatments, with improved results at each treatment. For the 5th treatment we waited 6 weeks to see what would happen to her results as a few more weeks passed.

At the 5th treatment more hair had returned than expected, but she could still see a significant difference from her original treatment. For the next series of 5 treatments we will try 5 week spacing and hope for even more reduction.

The patient refers to her hair as stubborn, but I think it’s just misunderstood. Laser Hair Removal is not an exact science, and can require some patience. Time, technique, and the availability of more than one form of laser / light technology can make all the difference!

My name is Carolyn and I just turned 14, there are tons of reasons that you have to choose my mom for the Total Mom Rejuvenation Contest.

First reason, she has a teenage daughter and son, if thats not enough alone then let me explain some of the other reasons… She has been a seminary student for almost 4 years now and is constantly working on writing 25 page papers and various presentations. Not only does she constantly have to work on schoolwork, but she is also a single mom (so if you know anyone.. let me know , I would love to marry her off to in her definition a “Godly hunk”), being a single mom, and having two teenage kids, she gets just about no help cooking and keeping the house in order. She also has a billion friends that are either in the hospital or come to her for help and support (at least five call a day).

She has probably not taken a break since the day she got back from her first honneymoon (and that was quite a while ago!!) so I think it’s definetally time for her to relax. I can’t imagine anyone more deserving for this Rejuvenation contest (plus I need a mothers day present, and I think this will do ) She is constantly running herself into the ground and more than once has overworked herself until the point where she is physically sick.

Hope you can walk in her shoes for a moment and realize how much she needs this.

Diana dreamed for years of moving to Southern Arizona. In 1998, we made that move and we lived there for 8 years, but we had to move back to Indiana in 2006 when my Mom and Dad’s health began to fail and they needed help. She unselfishly moved back, putting Arizona behind her, because my family means so much to her.

Until my Mother passed away on Christmas Day 2009, Diana took care of both her and my Dad by cleaning their laundry & dishes, cleaning their home, cooking for them & bathing them. My 92 year old Father is still living and she takes care of him on a daily basis. Diana has sacrificed so much to not only take care of them but also takes care of me with my arthritis and the degenerative disc in my back. She never has time for herself so she deserves a day just for her.

My entry is not for my mom, but for a mom and friend of mine who deserves something special for herself.

Abigail suffered a grand mal seizure at work two years ago and has since dealt with countless medical appointments, memory loss, sensory loss, and constant headaches – all while raising four young boys. Since Abigail is now unable to work fulltime, her husband took on more hours at his job, leaving her to shuttle the boys from sports practices to dentist appointments to school events on her own.

However, despite her medical issues (her neurologists never did find a cause for the seizure and have not ruled out the possibility of it occurring again), Abigail is one of the most upbeat people I know. She always makes herself available to help out other people – most recently, she’s been driving an hour every day to help her pregnant sister pack for an upcoming move. She’s thirsty for knowledge and works on puzzles and word games daily to help improve her memory. She reads voraciously in search of food ingredients that might help spark her taste buds to regain sensitivity.

The boys have been great, too – they understand that Mom’s brain is no longer wired to remember to sign their permission slips and pack lunches without several reminders from them. Only once have I seen Abigail break down and cry over feeling insufficient in terms of parenting, but I know that she’d give anything to regain her short-term memory capacity, if only so that she could expand on her service to others.

If anyone deserves a Total Mom Rejuvenation, it’s Abigail, and I am honored both to be her friend and to share her story.

I am an RN. I have two daughters at home, one in college for nursing and the other is 15 and in at least one sport every season. I am always so busy with “mom” stuff, I don’t get a lot of “me” time. I spend a lot of time helping both daughters with homework from nursing, to pharmacology, to high school algebra. Also, the 15 year old always has a project I am helping with such as the recent Roman house we built from a cake mix to ginger bread houses at Christmas or dressing up for spirit days at school. None of these can be done properly without the help of mom.

My college daughter has already been through these projects over the last several years, and now she is in college and we are planning her wedding for June of 2011. My high schooler is currently on the JV and Varsity softball teams at her high school, so I am at a game pretty much every day of the week. Wow, it is all pretty mind boggling!

I have a great husband who helps a lot, but he just isn’t “Mom”. He also has been laid off for the last year, so I have recently taken on a second job part-time to help pay the bills and get ready for the wedding. I am helping him get started in a traveling airbrush business at softball games where he will paint helmets and shirts.

This Total Mom Rejuvenation would be a total blessing to me! Thanks for accepting my entry!

My mother, Janie, has been through so much in the past eight years, I think she’s forgotten what it’s like to be comfortable–let alone pampered.

In 2002, Janie was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy/hysterectomy, and several rounds of estrogen-destroying hormone treatments. She lost her sense of femininity—hormones, womb, and breasts—in one awful year. The years following that were full of fear about whether or not the cancer was coming back, as well as the huge adjustments in her daily life that she made as she struggled to deal with her new scars, her new appearance, and her new anxieties. My father tried to urge her to rest during this period, but she still insisted on working to my brother and I—who were just entering college (him) and finishing up high school (me)—financially as we went through our own life changes and transitions. She tried to be there for us emotionally, too, even though she was undergoing so much.

And then, just when her health seemed to be on an upswing in 2006, my father, to whom my mother had been happily married for over 25 years, was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. For three years, my mother acted as his health advocate amidst complicated procedures, a mess of medical expenses, and even frustrating miscommunication between his doctors. She then carried the family through the sudden changes we had to make financially as his health declined—moving us into a smaller home pretty much single-handedly, since my father was so weak—and then took care of my dad through at-home hospice for several months. When he died in January of ’09, she didn’t allow the family to fall apart. She managed the family estate and returned to work, making sacrifices to help support me, her youngest, as I left college and began to embark on my own career path.

She lives as a widow now at 54. Her job these days involves helping women with breast cancer to “look normal—or at least as good as they can,” as she puts it, by fitting them with specialty wigs and prostheses. Every day, she grieves with women over their scars as they try to hide the damage. Every day, I think she opens up her own old wounds, but she knows that, as a survivor herself, there is no one who can understand the women who come to her for help any better. In spite of the pain, she puts her heart on the line every day to help others who are going through cancer. I can’t believe she does it—and I can’t imagine how she manages it, especially since she’s still grieving for my father and all the things she lost in her 25-year romance with him. He was her best friend.

She hasn’t had much time to take care of herself in the year following his death, and I think she’s forgotten what it’s like to be taken care of. Even though I’ve been living with her for the last ten months, she hasn’t ever relinquished her caretaker role to me, and she still takes on the heaviest burdens for herself. Grief has aged her prematurely—and I know that she would feel much more refreshed and confident and able to move on if she had the chance for some rejuvenating pampering she could never afford on her new budget.

Thanks for considering my mom, Janie, for this contest. Even if she doesn’t get your vote, I hope you’ll think of her in your prayers. Submitted by: Abbie

My mom is awesome; that is why she should win the spa treatments and other products. My name is Abigail and I am 10 years old. My sister is Lydia and she is 8 years old.

My mom was busy packing us up last April to move to Noblesville, Indiana. She was a pastor’s wife in northwest Indiana. I LOVE Noblesville and our home in the country. My mom was a pastor’s wife for 8 1/2 months, and then my Dad died because of inflammation of the pancreas. He was only in the hospital for 5 days. My sister and I didn’t even get to say goodbye.

My mom has had to learn to pay the bills and handle some of Dad’s jobs and still tries to be a good mom. She gets up early and goes to bed late just to have things ready for us. She fixes all of our meals, does our laundry, and helps us with our homework, and helps me with my new puppy, Penny. I know she is stressed out because she misses Dad and wants the best for us.

She needs a relaxing time so she can feel good about herself again. She also still has Bible studies and helps the kids. She needs to rest and I hope she wins the contest!
