My mom really deserves and needs a Med Spa getaway. It has been a rough couple of years for her. In June 2008, she got a new job. Three days into her new job, she got a call that her dad, my grandpa, had a stroke. She immediately left her new job and came home to be with him. She stayed at the hospital with him everyday. Based on some tests, her dad was told he had a form of lung cancer, small cell carcinoma, that did not have a very high survival rate even though he never smoked. She went with him to the oncologist and through another round of biopsies only to find out that he had sarcoidosis. My mom then researched sarcoidosis and found a world renowned specialist for my grandpa in his city and she takes him to his appointments so she can make sure he is following the doctor’s orders.
In July 2009, my father was laid off from his job where he worked for 20 years. He has since gotten a new job but it was a stressful time.
In October 2009, my mom was working out at the gym when she started not feeling well. She thought she was coming down with the flu but turns out it was a heart attack. She drove herself to St. Vincent’s heart hospital because my dad had left to go out of town for work a few hours before. She came through that very well through hard work at cardiac rehab and is now back at the gym and playing soccer. They could give her no reason for why she had a heart attack at age 46 other than heredity, she was adopted and does not know her family history. She barely had time to recover herself when her mother became ill.
In December of 2009, her mother went in for a routine procedure and subsequently caught various infections while in the hospital. On March 3, she and my grandfather had to make the decision to place my grandma in hospice. My grandma died on March 12, 2010. My mother, being the only child, made all arrangements and was very strong for my grandpa. My grandparents were married 53 years and my grandpa was pretty upset. While her mother was dying, my mom was down there constantly to be with my grandpa and she is driving to Cincinnati at least twice a week to be with him to make sure he is fine.
As you can see, my mom has had a lot of stress in the last year or so and a Med Spa getaway would be the perfect Mother’s Day gift so she can be the one taken care of instead of taking care of everyone else. Submitted by: Betsy
