Entry for Jenni

Inspirational!  That’s the word that comes to mind when I think about my Mom.  She is everything a mom would want to be, should be and could be.  She sacrifices without complaint.  She loves without condition.  She cares without a thought for herself.  I was a young adult before I began to truly appreciate all she had done for my siblings and me.

Yes, I am nominating my Mom.  She deserves to be a “totally renovated Mom” and she would love every minute of it!  However, she won’t be able to accept if she wins.  You see my Mom was also a strong, courageous, inspiring woman, who died on July 12, 2009 after a two-year battle with cancer.   She never believed she was going to die.  She was brave.  She was dignified.  She never complained.  She didn’t let us see her suffering.  That’s the way my Mom lived her life.  Inspirational!  Yes, that is the word that comes to mind when I think about my Mom.

It is my hope that in her memory, her granddaughter, Jennifer, will be a “totally renovated Mom.”  Why?  Because Jenni is just like her grandmother.  She lives life to its fullest.  She accepts life’s ups and downs without question, complaint or quandary.  And, most important, my Mom would want Jenni to win.  As Jenni’s Mom, I would agree and add that she deserves to be a “totally renovated Mom”.  She has two beautiful, rowdy, rambunctious little boys, ages 2 ½ and 1 ½, and is having Baby Elle in May.  Three under the age of three!  Jenni just keeps going and doing and giving and caring and loving!  Just like her grandmother!

It would be a true testimonial to my Mom if her granddaughter wins! Submitted by: Judy

Entry for Gina

Monday, April 5th, 2010
We found out very quickly we were having twins, I was getting so sick and unable to eat anything I went to the doctor who wanted to check my hormone levels. They were extremely high, and an ultrasound proved we were having fraternal twins.  It wasn’t until I was 5 months along that I found out by going thru my families geneology book twins run in our family.  SURPRISE!
During my pregnancy I experienced the extreme form of morning sickness, hyperemesis.  I was in the hospital three seperate times for dehydration, on an I.V. at home for 8 days due to dehydration, vomiting over 25 times a day, losing 20lbs totals in 4 weeks. Finally I was able to get on the zofran pump to help with nausea.  It lessened it some, but for 4 weeks I had to change my site twice daily, well my husband did, he would have to stick a needle in my leg which is somewhat large because it had a tube in it connected to a machine I had to wear 24 hrs a day.  I had to cut my hours at work to 3 hours a day because having twins is considered a high risk pregnancy and I was very dizzy and lightheaded I couldn’t stand for long periods of tme.  And of course, thel vomiting, that didn’t stop completely until I was 6 1/2 months pregnant.  I had to leave work at 4 1/2 months pregnant, as a hairstylist I was unable to stand for long periods of time, and then put on limited bed rest.  I couldn’t lift anything over a gallon of milk, so thank God for family.  My mom and mother-in-law would come over and clean, and help any way they could.  My sister was also so supportive and would come over and help in any way possible.
By 32 weeks, I started having contractions, because my uterus was already the size of a woman’s who would be carrying 1 baby.  We had to start several medications to relax my uterus so I wouldn’t go into labor and my girls wouldn’t be premature and I had to have the steroid injections to help the girls lungs mature.  By then I was on strict bed rest, for the next 4 weeks, I ended up going to the hospital 3 times for shots to stop my contractions, and finally I made it to 36 weeks.  I was finally off bedrest and trying everything possible to get labor started.  My body was hurting so bad, I obviously got my appetite back and ended up gaining 55 lbs.  At 38 1/2 weeks, we went in for a c-section.  The girls were born 1 minute apart and were very healthy at 5lbs 11 oz 18 1/2 inches, and 5lbs 14 oz and 18 inches.
I on the other hand had a bad case of uterine atne, where my uterus was stretched so much I started hemmoraging blood, and having to have a blood transfusion.  It was a very terrifying day, that night the doctor did an ultrasound and said if I didn’t stop bleeding as much overnight, we would have to do a D and C, if that didn’t would I would have to have a hysterectomy.  Luckily, I slowed down overnight and everything started to calm down.    We brought the girls home and all heck broke loose.  The first night home they wouldn’t stop crying for more than 5-10 minute at a time, and I had a stomach virus that had me very sick.  By 8:30 am, the girls fell asleep and we called the grandma’s for help.  It was a rough beginning.
My husband works very long hours, and sometimes has to go back into work in the middle of the night.  So I am always with the girls, and have no free time for myself.  It would be a wonderful experience to win this makeover.  My girls deserve a less stressed and taken care of mom.  I’m voting for myself because right now I am my favorite mom.  I am findng strengths I never had, and have learned alot about myself.  Although an uncertain and scary journey, we have been so blessed with these beautiful girls.  Thank you for consideration.

This would be a refreshing and rejuvinating experience for my loving and dedicated wife who is working tirelessly.

  2. Chanda Boyden says:

Being a mom is hard work, and what mom doesn’t deserve a little pampering? But when I think about the ins and out of your experience–from a rough pregnancy through the challenges of multiples–I can’t think of anyone who deserves this more!

    You’ve got my vote.

  3. Cathy Erickson says:

Gina is truly a wonderful Mother! She is a natural. I have seen her work tirelessly for the baby girls. Even though we all help as much as we can, the brunt of it falls on her. I am totally impressed with my daughter-in-law and think she deserves everything good that comes her way!

  4. Meribeth Yeary says:

Gina is a very strong and determined mother. Having twins myself, I completely understand how easy it is to put everyone else first. Gina really deserves a LOT of pampering. Gina, you are a wonderful mother! You can see it in the faces of your beautiful girls.

  5. Kristi Hartley says:

I would love to see Gina win this. She would really benefit from it. I have never known anyone to work so hard and go through so much just to get her babies safely here. And that was just the beginning. Bringing one baby home when you’ve had a traumatic delivery is one thing, but bringing home twins is a totally different thing. She has definitely risen to the challenge and put those girls first. Now, she could use a little pampering for herself. Good luck Gina!! You are a strong and courageous woman!

  6. Wanda Boyden says:

She has endured quite a bit during pregnancy and after pregnancy. Gina has shown such strength, and endurance when faced with what new moms know is such a difficult and trying time. I believe my daughter deserves to have this day, because with 3 month old twins, she won’t have one of these for a long long time. You’ve got my vote.

  7. Barbara Miller says:

Gina is a very loving person and very dedicated to her family. She’s very hard-working. Being a beautician…she always made other women look special and now I feel it’s her turn….to be pampered.

  8. Faye Whaley says:

During the pregrancy and since, I have been so impressed with her positive attitude and the joy she shares. She deserves to have this
    day!

  9. Barbara Crawford says:

Gina deserves to win this as I can remember bringing home just one new little one to care for at a time and most of us can. Bringing home two little ones I can not imagine the time required. Wish both Grandmothers could be included too! Thank you for offering this to some lucky lady but naturally I am pulling for my Spade playing niece, my card buddy!

  10. Sandy says:

I vote for Gina! She’s a great mom.

  11. Sandy says:

I know from talking to Gina’s mom what Gina went through just to get those girls here. Taking care of one baby is a handful, but two, especially when you are sick yourself. I know what a great person she is herself so , she has to be a great mom. My vote is for Gina. You go girl!

  12. Diane Cram says:

What better way to treat a Mom on her very first Mother’s Day! Gina all the way!

  13. Tom Boyden says:

After seeing what you went thru to have these babies, and watching you take such good care of them, you have my vote, Gina. You deserve a chance to be taken care of for awhile. Your mom and I will baby sit for you on that day.

  14. cindy says:

Gina is a wonderful mom! She is so deserving of a little time to herself and some pampering!! My vote is for Gina!!

  15. Billy Walden says:

Gina is a great girl and is making a great Mom for here twins. Gina has my vote and deserves to be pampered.

  16. Janet Moser says:

Having spent a couple of afternoon hours to help Gina out, I could not believe how much it took to keep with with those two angels. I felt like I needed to go to the spa after that.;-) She needs this. Please vote for her.

  17. Yasamin Dahlstrom says:

Having had twins myself I know how difficult it can be to have even one minute to yourself. I vote for Gina, not only because she has twins and she deserves it, but because she is one of the most generous and kind people you will ever met.

Entry for: Cindy

Monday, April 5th, 2010

I met my friend Cindy when both our sons played Pups football three years ago.  I noticed right away that people were drawn to her sense of humor and everyone loved the way she yelled “GO BIG DOGS!” to fire up the linemen.  A single Mom of two athletic high school kids, Cindy is always on the go, running one kid or another to some sporting event.  She also handles the children’s choir at her church on a volunteer basis.

Cindy made the career leap into real estate sales a few months before the market crashed.  The construction company she worked for hit tough times and Cindy lost her job.  While Cindy’s ex-husband pays child support, neither he, nor her family is able to help her with additional financial assistance.  Her car is old and creaky, her house needs to be repaired and the bills have piled up.

What I respect most about Cindy is her faith that things will get better.  She puts one foot in front of the other and doesn’t waste time whining about things she can’t change.  I know she worries constantly about losing her house and not being able to provide for her children.  I would like Cindy to enjoy the services at Ology Spa and for just a short while, forget that things are so scary and difficult.
