Entry for Judy

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

My mother deserves to win because she is the greatest mom a person could ask for.  My mother is 62 years old and has always been there for me.

She has been through so much in her life, she has struggled to take care of her 3 daughters and her 2 grandchildren but she has always found a wayto manage.  My mother and father divorced right after I graduated from high school, she left everything she owned besides her truck, lived in a women’s abuse shelter and worked like crazy to give herself and me a better life.

As a child she worked two jobs to take care of us, she drove me to my friends, to the skating rink, to the pool.  I became pregnant at age 17,so that was one more mouth she was trying to figure out how she was going to take care of, and in an abusive situation myself.  She never scolded me about the wrongs in my life, she tried to talk me through them and realized I had to learn for myself.  She was there to support me through it all and I finally managed to break free. She always gave me encouraging words, and cards, and the pick-me-ups a teenager needed from a mother.

I had a high risk pregnancy because I was so sick and my body was trying to abort the pregnancy, I gave birth to a micro-preemie that is now 15.  My mother was in the delivery room with me when I gave birth and has helped me raise my daughter to become the teenager that she is today.  My mom has had to work multiple jobs to get by and now works overnight at a bakery.  She has never really had the chance to enjoy herself or relax and feel good about who she is.  She has always put others before her, she has taken care of others needs first. She makes sure she attends all functions for her grandchildren, even if she is worn out.  She has never been able to go out and buy nice clothes, get a massage, get a makeover or anything for herself because she is always taking care of others.

She deserves this chance.  She deserves an opportunity to feel good about herself, a chance to relax and time for herself.  My mother is my best friend, but being her daughter she doesn’t get how beautiful a person she is outside as she is inside.  I tell her but once again, I am her daughter and she thinks it is all said out of love.  She does not feel attractive anymore because her hair is thinning, her weight, her age, we are big boned in our family so we don’t have that small and petite look, and people often call her sir, yes, people call her sir, and it hurts her.

I want my mom to have a chance to know how wonderful, how beautiful, and how caring she is and that she is loved.  I am asking for your help to give her this, she is the greatest friend, a great person and most of all the best Mom.  She has taught me how to love others, love myself and at a young, teenage age, how to become a mom when times were scary and tough. I love you Mom!!!  thank you for your time.

She is the closest grandma i have and she practically helped raise me,especially when i was a baby and my mother had to move me down here because there was a lot going on in her life so for a few months…i lived with my grandma. She always helps me out giving me food and clothing when it is needed. She also never goes out that much, she helps watch my baby cousin Alex. She also works at about 3:00 in the morning and then comes home about 11:00 in the morning, earning money to support herself,me,my cousin, and her mother. My grandmother has done so much for me, and my family, she is the best grandmother a grandaughter could ask for. Most teens are self-centered and not concerned about some little bothersome cousin, but not Judy she loved us and made our lives so much richer. I love her sense of humor she is a joy to be with and she so deserves to win!

  37. Mary Babbitt says:

ok so she is one of the best people i know she drives me everywhere, everyday. she takes me to my friends the doctor you name it, and although she cannot afford things she herself needs she always seems to be able to get us our christmas presents, birthday and just a random gift and she never asks us to do anything in return, except to be quite while she sleeps ^^ i think this would be great for her she neeeds so time to relax and let someone else take care of her for a minute. she works all of the time, she gets up at two thirty am to work in a bakery which she loves but would rather be doing somthing else that is easier on her body, she then comes home at noon to nap for maybe an hour if she can she then leaves to get us everyday from school or clubs then she takes not only us home but also our friends and the takes us to the store or our homes aftter that if shes home early enough she will help cook with her mom and sister and then go to bed just to do it all over again and in the mix of all of that she will babysit other cousins let our pets out if we are away from home ect. I love my Nana with all of my heart and she deserves this treatment more than anyone else i know.

  38. Amanda Depinet says:

I think Ms. judy really deserves a break. She is so sweet, and an amazing person. I would gladly vote for her!

Hats off to her for having the courage to do what was best for you all of you!

  42. Paul says:

  46. Haxhera says:

  47. staci says:

My mom deserves to win a spa treatment. From the time she became pregnant with me, she has strived to give me the best life she can. She made sure that my sisters and I experienced life. She worked two jobs to provide for our family, and still made time to spend with us. When things get tough, she just got tougher. Nothing will keep her down!
My mom is supportive of our family, even when we make the wrong decisions in life. When we have our own difficulties, she’s right there to be a shoulder to cry on, or hold our hand, or just to listen. Mom may offer her opinion, and doesn’t get offended if we don’t listen. And when it becomes apparent that we should have listened, she seldom says I told you so.
My mom has helped me, my sisters, and our children more than anyone knows. She helps by picking the kids up from school, taking them to doctors appointments, or taking organ lessons with her granddaughter.

Mom gives and gives and seldom asks anything for herself. This would be an awesome surprise for her. Please vote for my mom, Judy!

  48. Traci says:

I Vote for Judy! GOD Bless!

Entry for Sally

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

My mom deserves to be the winner that I can’t even describe it!! She is the mom of four kids…….. a 5 year old, 12 year old, 17 year old, and a 19 year old!
This is my moms day, first she wakes up at 4:30, runs, cleans the house, and makes our lunches. Then she wakes us up and gets my little sister ready for school! For the rest of the day she is running errands! Then takes me to theatre then to soccer and after that I walk to our school’s gym where she is the coach of my volleyball team! She volunteers in everything and is always very active and  ready to do her job. She makes all three meals and gives us snacks. She does the laundry and the dishes, we do not even help her. It is a shame to say, but we are very selfish and do not realize how lucky we are. I can go on about how hard my mom works, but the big thing she really works hard at is teaching us our morals and values. You hear about kids drunk driving, smoking marijuana, and so much more. My mom teaches us to dress appropriately, do the right thing, try our best, and so much more life lessons. There probably are hard working moms out there besides mine, but some moms do forget one thing, morals and values.
My mom wants this and deserves it because she grew up with 7 kids and never got a spa with so many people in the family. My mom deserves this  because she is so hardworking. Us kids just want to give her a break she truly has raised us the right way. My sister in college watches kids get drunk and realizes how blest she was to end up in this family. I realize how blest I am with my mom. I owe her for everything she has done for me. That is why I entered my mom in this contest. So she knows how lucky I realize I am to have her as a mom.

I love you Mrs. C.! You are the best second mother I have ever had—I am so excited to spend basically the whole summer living at your house! You deserve this and I hope you win!

  2. Emily says:

Along with my sister, I would have to vote for my mom as well! Not only is she the most caring, thoughtful, hardworking woman I know, but she has been a role model to me my whole life. She has now raised me to be an independent, hardworking lady, and taught me that no matter what life throws at you always know there is something worse in the world. She has taught me to always place others before myself and that I will always have her and my family who always will love me and support me in everything I do. Not once has she ever put herself before others, she is constantly giving, smiling and laughing to make the world a better place! She is not only my mother now, but my best friend! I don’t know what I would do without her!

Entry for Amy

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

MS  should stand for “Mystery Sickness” as there seem to be no 2 cases alike, with no real cure. How can a young mother of 4 beautiful boys under the age of 7 deserve such a challenge in just handling her daily functions??  It is a cruel disease, with every day presenting a different possible symptom & making just walking a real chore.

My niece, Amy, is 32 yrs old, is an outstanding kindergarten teacher who absolutely loves children.  She never turns her back on a child in need of a hug, when she herself could sure use one most ever minute of every day. Many entries have very sad medical stories, all of which are equally deserving, however……….. Amy’s story doesn’t end with just her illness.  Her oldest son had a traumatic head injury from a freak accident a couple of years ago.  He was life lined to Children’s Hospital in Louisville where he stayed a couple weeks.  Their home was in Noblesville at the time.  Amy was pregnant with their 4th child and was supposed to be on bed rest.  How do you leave your son’s bedside?  You don’t, she didn’t.  She had 2 other little ones at home.

Just as her family life was becoming a bit normal again after her son’s long rehab, she started feeling anything but normal.  After many tests, and multiple doctor visits, it was determined she had MS.   Not long after her diagnosis, her mom, my dear sister, was told she had joined the ranks of so many other women with breast cancer.  Both of their battles have raged on in full speed this past year.  At a time when a daughter needs her mother, her mother in turn needs her daughter.  This is hard for me as the Aunt and sister to watch unfold and ask the question, “Why?  Why are both being burdened in this evil way?” I would love for Amy to be pampered and “rejuvenated”!!  Her 4 boys and husband need her happy and healthy.  Her kindergarten class needs her creative and caring ways again.  Please take time to vote for Amy!  M. age  7, K. age 6, C. age 4 & N. age 2 would love they mommy to feel good about herself.

Give this prize to Judy. She really deserves it. I have known her daughter for over 25 years and everything single word her daughter Missy is saying about her is true.

  11. Jerry Magers says:

My sincere desire is for this tragic story to ultimately have a happy ending. My sister has had MS for over thiry years and she is now in a nursing home. I have been witness to what this insidious disease is capable of doing. My wife lost her mother and her sister to breast cancer and not a day goes by that I am not fearful of a similar diagnosis for my wife.

Let us all pray that ongoing medical technology will sooner than later solve the mystery of both of these diseases. In the meantime let us all keep Amy and her mother in our prayers.

  12. Chris Harrington says:

Amy has been under a tremendous amount of stress for the past month and a half. Started out with bronchitis which developed into pleurisy and then landed her in the hospital for 8 days. Having MS makes a cold or anything worse. She was also diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Her four little boys and husband need their mommy back. This would really help lift her spirits! She has had to take a medical leave for the rest of her teaching job because of this latest episode.
    Thank you for your vote.

  13. Karen Smith says:

Amy is so deserving of a Total Mom Rejuvenation! She’s a wonderful wife, mother, and daughter who is struggling at this time with MS, fibromyalgia, and the daily routine of caring for 4 young children ages 7 and under. A day of pampering would do so much for her mental health.

Entry for Heidi’s Mom

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Being a mom is both one of the most rewarding and hardest jobs on the planet.  This is a job that you do not take a vacation from and if you do your job well most nights you fall in your bed exhausted.  I know because I do this, many of my friends do it and I have watched my mom do it.  Well this year, I was in a position where I had to go back to work and with out my mom I would never have been able to make it.  She raised her three children and sacrificed many things throughout the years for all of us.  Now in retirement, she has once again postponed her plans to assist my family and me.

When faced with the decision of where to place my 4 year old in child care and so unsure of what to do.  She proposed that we leave her in her current preschool.  She and my dad would care for her during the day and transport her on the days she does go to “school”.  She has taken care of my kids when they were sick, cooked us meals, and done my laundry just to mention a few things she has done.  The list is endless.

She has given me so much and has done so much.  I feel that I could never repay her.  I would like to show her how much I appreciate her by giving her something that she in her 72 years would never consider doing for herself.

Entry for Kim

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

I would like to nominate Kim M.  for the Total Mom Rejuvenation Contest.

While Kim is not my mother, she is deserving of “pampering.”  Kim is the wife of Ken and the mother of five children, four living. Her son N. was just a young child when he died several years ago after battling multiple cancers. Recently,  Kim’s husband and two of her children have battled multiple cancers. Those two children, A.  and D., have both been diagnosed very recently with yet another cancer. A.  is preparing to travel to Seattle where she will begin preparations for her bone marrow transplant. Through it all, Kim is upbeat and positive and stronger than most people who aren’t  even dealing with such things in their lives. She has authored a book for children, “H is for Hair Fairy”, a book for children losing their hair from cancer treatments. She is a remarkable woman.

Entry for John, Luke & David’s Mom

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

My mother deserves a relaxing and revitalizing week.  She deserves more than that.

My mom has such a stressful job both at home and at work.  At work my mom writes grants and helps raise money for victims of crimes.  She works so many hours a week often late into the night with soo many people depending on her.  She is the first one to leave in the morning and usually the last to get home.  When she does get home she mothers not only four boys, including three teenagers, she graciously cooks diner every night without fail.  She spends soo much time preparing diner and then even helps with the dishes.  She also has to cook a separate meal for my youngest brother Joseph.  Joseph has severe allergies to almost every food that we eat everyday.  Because of these allergies my mother has to make 3 separate meals a day for him. With a vast array of combinations of pills and medicines that Joseph needs everyday, the pressure of trying to keep track of all of the pills and getting refills really takes its toll on my mother.

Even through all of this my mother drives us to sporting events, practices, and doctors appointments.  She manages to attend all of our sporting events and even though her schedule is chaotic she still manages to love us everyday.  My mother deserves this week of relaxation because she is the most caring and devoted mother in the whole world.

Me and my brothers love her very much and think that just this small thing would go a long way in showing her that we appreciate, and know what she does for us and our family day in and day out.    Submitted by John, Luke & David

Entry for Carolyn’s Mom

Monday, April 26th, 2010

My name is Carolyn and I just turned 14, there are tons of reasons that you have to choose my mom for the Total Mom Rejuvenation Contest.

First reason, she has a teenage daughter and son, if thats not enough alone then let me explain some of the other reasons… She has been a seminary student for almost 4 years now and is constantly working on writing 25 page papers and various presentations. Not only does she constantly have to work on schoolwork, but she is also a single mom (so if you know anyone.. let me know :) , I would love to marry her off to in her definition a “Godly hunk”), being a single mom, and having two teenage kids, she gets just about no help cooking and keeping the house in order. She also has a billion friends that are either in the hospital or come to her for help and support (at least five call a day).

She has probably not taken a break since the day she got back from her first honneymoon (and that was quite a while ago!!) so I think it’s definetally time for her to relax. I can’t imagine anyone more deserving for this Rejuvenation contest (plus I need a mothers day present, and I think this will do :D ) She is constantly running herself into the ground and more than once has overworked herself until the point where she is physically sick.

Hope you can walk in her shoes for a moment and realize how much she needs this.

Entry for Diana

Monday, April 26th, 2010
My wife, Diana deserves some time for herself for all that she gave for my Mom and still gives for my Dad.
Diana dreamed for years of moving to Southern Arizona. In 1998, we made that move and we lived there for 8 years, but we had to move back to Indiana in 2006 when my Mom and Dad’s health began to fail and they needed help. She unselfishly moved back, putting Arizona behind her, because my family means so much to her.
Until my Mother passed away on Christmas Day 2009, Diana took care of both her and my Dad by cleaning their laundry & dishes, cleaning their home, cooking for them & bathing them. My 92 year old Father is still living and she takes care of him on a daily basis.  Diana has sacrificed so much to not only take care of them but also takes care of me with my arthritis and the degenerative disc in my back. She never has time for herself so she deserves a day just for her.

Entry for Abigail

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

My entry is not for my mom, but for a mom and friend of mine who deserves something special for herself.

Abigail suffered a grand mal seizure at work two years ago and has since dealt with countless medical appointments, memory loss, sensory loss, and constant headaches – all while raising four young boys. Since Abigail is now unable to work fulltime, her husband took on more hours at his job, leaving her to shuttle the boys from sports practices to dentist appointments to school events on her own.

However, despite her medical issues (her neurologists never did find a cause for the seizure and have not ruled out the possibility of it occurring again), Abigail is one of the most upbeat people I know. She always makes herself available to help out other people – most recently, she’s been driving an hour every day  to help her pregnant sister pack for an upcoming move. She’s thirsty for knowledge and works on puzzles and word games daily to help improve her memory. She reads voraciously in search of food ingredients that might help spark her taste buds to regain sensitivity.

The boys have been great, too – they understand that Mom’s brain is no longer wired to remember to sign their permission slips and pack lunches without several reminders from them. Only once have I seen Abigail break down and cry over feeling insufficient in terms of parenting, but I know that she’d give anything to regain her short-term memory capacity, if only so that she could expand on her service to others.

If anyone deserves a Total Mom Rejuvenation, it’s Abigail, and I am honored both to be her friend and to share her story.

I am an RN.  I have two daughters at home, one in college for nursing and the other is 15 and in at least one sport every season.  I am always so busy with “mom” stuff, I don’t get a lot of “me” time.  I spend a lot of time helping both daughters with homework from nursing, to pharmacology, to high school algebra.  Also, the 15 year old always has a project I am helping with such as the recent Roman house we built from a cake mix to ginger bread houses at Christmas or dressing up for spirit days at school.  None of these can be done properly without the help of mom.

My college daughter has already been through these projects over the last several years, and now she is in college and we are planning her wedding for June of 2011.  My high schooler is currently on the JV and Varsity softball teams at her high school, so I am at a game pretty much every day of the week.  Wow, it is all pretty mind boggling!

I have a great husband who helps a lot, but he just isn’t “Mom”.  He also has been laid off for the last year, so I have recently taken on a second job part-time to help pay the bills and get ready for the wedding.  I am helping him get started in a traveling airbrush business at softball games where he will paint helmets and shirts.

This Total Mom Rejuvenation would be a total blessing to me!  Thanks for accepting my entry!
